Last year our outstanding comedians, including Tim Minchin, Tom Basden, Daniel Kitson, Jonny Sweet and Sanderson Jones, raised the roof of the Islington venue, selling out the event and raising over £13,000 for CWMT. This year we have another stellar line up, including Tim Key, Nick Mohammed, Ed Gamble and Jonny Sweet.

Don’t Grow UP 2011: 14 July 2011

Following its success in 2010, Don’t Grow UP returned to Hyde Park on 14 July 2011 for an even bigger battle of childish wits as 10 teams competed to be the least grown up in a series of games and challenges run by Sharkey & George.

Many thanks to everyone who came along: this year with your support we raised a fantastic £2,400 on the night. Photos of the event will be posted very soon when we launch our new photo album feature on the UP site!

Our projects

All our projects are funded by our supporters, through fundraising events and direct donations. Our aim is to organise fundraising and awareness-raising events that would interest young people: gigs, film screenings, comedy, sport and nights out.

If you would like to run an event of your own, or take part in a challenge event (such as the London Marathon, the Three Peaks Challenge, or the Great North Run) please contact us for more information.

So please let us have all your feedback – positive or negative – and any ideas you might have to help us make it as good as it possibly can be.

Competition: a short film on depression

We believe visual media has great potential to get our message across. We’re planning to get together with universities and film schools across the country to set up a short film competition. We’ll ask young people to create a short film about depression and where to seek help. More soon!

Find a mental health professional

If you’re concerned that you, or someone you know, might be suffering from depression, it’s vital to see a trained mental health professional. These are the people best equipped to diagnose and support you through treatment and recovery. Whilst there are several searchable online resources, we think it should be easier to self refer. So we’re working on an integrated searchable list of accredited mental health professionals across the UK. We hope to be able to add this to the UP website soon.

Integration with the student Mental Wealth Project

We’re working with Mental Wealth UK to collaborate with student-led mental health and well-being groups, raising awareness of depression within student committees. Don’t Grow UP: 22 July 2010

Don’t Grow UP saw eighty twenty-somethings release their inner eight-year-olds with an evening of giant catapults, water bombs, tug of war, sock wrestling and more in Hyde Park.

Eight teams battled it out to become the champion of childish fun and games, and the rain held off to allow joint victory to be taken by the pink and red teams.

Thanks to everyone who took part – we not only had a great evening but together we raised £2,000 for UP and CWMT.
